Philome Obin

Founder of Haiti's northern school known as "Cap-Haitien". Upon discovering the inauguration of the Centre d'Art, Philome Obin sent the Apotheosis of Franklin Roosevelt to Dewitt Peters in the early part of 1945. Upon receiving the painting, Peters discovered that the focus of the Centre d'Art should be one of a self-taught school. The art center quickly discovered world famous naive masters such as Hector Hyppolite, Rigaud Benoit, Jasmin Joseph, Castera Bazile, Gabriel Alix, etc.
