Maritza Bernal
Colombia, b. 2000
Maritza Bernal was born in Colombia in 1959. Colombia is a land of vivid colors: green emerald, tropical blue sky, and yellow of gold, fruits and wheat fields. Influenced by the colorful of this her morther land, Maritza recreates the full essence of color in her works. Either in the color of a papagayo's plumage, in the plain red of an apple, or in the aloof color of the crust of her spectacular "Onions", Maritza manages to catch the color in its utmost vibrant pictorial expression. This innate talent has been cultivated with decades of patience and dedication. Maritza was initiated in the painting art in the early eighties. Her technique has evolved from the hand of the masters Graciela Gómez, Giovanni Castro and Alberto Pancorbo, distinguished painters who have exposed in several and important galleries in America and Europe. Maritza's pictorial repertoire, dominated by the oil on canvas technique, encompasses landscapes, city sceneries, miniatures, still life, gates, flowers, animals, abstract and figure painting. In spite of this varied thematic, the importance she gives to the color stays constant guiding her work through harmony and integrity. You will find in this virtual exhibition the reasons why Maritza's painting elicits admiration. Be prepared then for an encounter with the purity of the form and the rescue of its Majesty the color.
