Francine Garrido

Francine Garrido

Spain, b. 1949

Ms. Garrido was born in New York City, NY, of a Spanish father (Valencia) and an Italian mother (Sicily). She spent her early childhood in NYC surrounded by both familial cultures and traditions. Her family moved into the country and she was mesmerized with the late nights outdoors with Flaminco guitar played and sung by her grandfather and family and friends and the folk dances of that generation, under the cover of night and all the mystery of Spanish music glazing the air and influencing her forever. Always showing an interest in the arts beginning with dance and music, and then finding her way to visual arts. Steeped with this rich experience as she simultaneously was exposed to nature. Her primary medium is collage/mixedmedia, working with sacred geometry using a variety of images, objects and mediums. Her influences have been Dali, Remedios Varo, Camerena, Klarwein, et al.
