Enrique Sánchez M.

Enrique Sánchez M. (Guadalajara, Jalisco, 1940) is a Mexican painter recognized for his mastery of classical and contemporary landscape painting, as well as for his abstract work. He inherited his artistic vocation from his father, visual artist Vicente Sánchez Muñoz.

He studied painting and sculpture at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda” of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Shortly after beginning his professional career, he also worked as an art professor.

During the 1970s, Sánchez traveled throughout Europe, where he expanded his artistic training, explored different techniques, and participated in numerous exhibitions. Throughout his career, the Valley of Mexico, the countryside, trees, and landscapes have remained central themes in his work.

His work gained greater recognition during the 1980s and 1990s, establishing Sánchez as a prominent figure in Mexican landscape painting. His paintings reflect a deep appreciation for nature, while his abstract work is distinguished by the strength of its compositions, color, and expressive freedom.

Over a career spanning more than six decades, Enrique Sánchez has produced thousands of works and exhibited in numerous venues in Mexico and internationally. His paintings are held in private collections in Mexico and other countries.

He continues his artistic practice today from his studio in Mexico City.
