Carlos Alvarez Coutiño

Born in the City of Morelia, July 8, 1984, he pursued his first studies at the Motolinía Elementary School and at the Valladolid Secondary Institute. At an early adolescent age he found his vocation for art, particularly for painting and sculpture, large branches of the Visual or Plastic Arts. In 1998, studying Secondary, he started in the private workshop of Maestro Agustín Torres. Where the technique of oil and acrylics on landscapes and still lifes, were the basis for working on some different styles, entering, already, the year 2000 with the Masters of Casa de la Cultura, Miguel Rincón Pasaye, Juan Guerrero and Rafael Flores who inclined him to knowledge of a more academic work such as the human body knowing fundamental techniques in the Renaissance and Baroque. When Master Diana Gálvez arrived with the knowledge of human, lion and horse anatomy, they were indispensable for future arrival with Elías Velázquez, Alfonso Mata, who gave him the foot to achieve the sculpture. Working from 2001 on Techniques, such as modeling in plasticine, terracotta, high temperature ceramics, knowing and working on lost wax bronze casting with Masters such as Santos, Francisco and David Ramírez, with whom he met, patina, of different sulfur , acids, oxides, and experimenting with poisons like cyanide, and urine that create unique patina. Having as his first art workshop, he prefers to leave school studies, since 2001, and thus, reach the workshops or houses of sculptors and painters and ask for work or teaching, and on the other and very important part, start a job, of a trade, in a way of life, disciplined in an art studio. Polyester resins, automotive resin and epoxies were learned, with it fiberglass, silicone rubber and latex in molds, using resin pigments, and natural pigments, such as cochineal grana, earths, powders, marbles, sugars, salts, flours, etc. Creating textures, colors and shapes of the material, giving it its value for it, adding catalysts, promoters and monomers, burning, corroding or even diluting the paintings making them accidental but controlled. Later, he meets his present Mentor, the Master, Sculptor, Javier Marín, and works with him for about 5 years, part of his work, as one of his private assistants, and begins to work large-format and monumental sculptures thanks to the Master Marín, thus refining his sculpture technique with an ideology about the permanence of the Academic and Baroque Renaissance. For a short time he also knows a great friend today, Santiago Carbonel, there he finds the egg temples, the printers and imprints, in his scatollas the rabbit tail, and even preparing his own oils with pigments that are extracted from snails, with that purple, cow urine with that magenta, Grana Cochineal that wine, etc .; and there, the human body, reaching a realism and then a hyper-realism.
