Aconcha is a Cuban-born painter influenced by the magical world of the Orishas, deities of the Yoruba pantheon. Her work is associated with singular art, outsider art, and narrative figuration.

Her artistic practice unfolds in a sea of colors, fabrics, and layered, tangled collages made from different materials. Through the exuberance of her creations, she connects with a deep sense of womanhood that encompasses both day and night, Yin and Yang.

Secret and syncretic signs drawn from Yoruba traditions are camouflaged within the figures that inhabit Aconcha's paintings.
